Speaking of the Peabody Museum’s collection of early photographs of Japan...

It turns out there is an upcoming book signing and lecture related to the Peabody Museum's collection of early photographs from Japan. Concepts of the photograph as souvenir, art, and anthropological evidence will be discussed and it's free and open to the public!

The lecture and book signing are Thursday, September 24 at 6 pm at the Geological Lecture Hall (24 Oxford St. Cambridge).

There is also a related exhibition, From Artistry to Ethnography in Early Japanese Photographs. It is on view until September 27, 2015 at the Center for Government and International Studies at Harvard.
